Summer holidays are coming! This means a lot of spare time for parties, beer, family barbecues and other pleasures like… games! But you need a right game, well suited for playing with friends. Kimbo is just perfect. It’s a contemporary game, though a bit forgotten and worth the reminder. Continue reading “Kimbo – put up your fences and go around others”
When you hear “chess”, you think about the intellectual duel of two people. Therefore you may be surprised by the fact, that one of the Chess ancestors is a game for 4 players and with an element of luck. The goal of the game was no to checkmate but to score points, however, this old game is still “chessy” . The name of this game is Chaturaji.
Have you ever heard about Backgammon? Even if you do not know the rules, maybe you just know what it is. A game with dice, played on board with “teeth” on which players move their numerous pieces. This game is really extraordinary, so it’s good to know its rules and rich history.
It is believed that popular game of Ludo is very old, but is it? It was patented in 1986, but it was a modern variant of really old game called Pachisi. And I must tell you this older game is more strategic and has a unique, ancient nature.

Sometimes you want to play with family or friends, but you don’t want to get tired mentally. You rather want to relax, talk with someone etc. In such situations games with random element are fine. Some of these games are very popular like Pachisi or Ludo. Unfortunately, Ludo is quite simple … too simple. Perhaps you’d like to play some game similar to Ludo, but you want this game to be a bit more challenging, more surprising or demanding more strategic thinking?
If you are looking for such game I propose Malefiz.
Spiders stimulate our imagination. They are nasty creatures, but also efficient hunters. They are a symbol of evil, cruelty, ruthlessness or selfishness, but on the other hand… they are so skillful. J.R.R Tolkien scared us with Ungoliant and Shelob. JK Rowling also scared us with Aragog and his descendants, but there are also positive and wise spiders like Charlotte in “Charlotte’s web”
Spider’s theme is also present in board games. I’ve seen a lot of games that relate to spiders and flies, and are often played on a board similar to a spider’s web.
