For Grammar Nazis

Dear Grammar Nazis!

I decided that on this blog names of games are always written using capital letters. This is deliberate and intentional abuse of the grammar rules. I made this decision for two reasons.

  • First – readability. In articles about games it’s important to distinguish between the names of games and other words.
  • Second – respect. Games like Chess, Checkers or Go are more than “just games”. These are important cultural phenomena. In my opinion, they deserve for writing their names with capital letters. Starting this names without a capital letter can be useful when writing about group of games (so I can write about “chess” as a family of games, but about “Chess” as a specific game).
